Iowa Family Leadership Training Institute (IFLTI)


Parents and primary caregivers of children ages 3 to 19 with special health care needs are invited to participate in a special leadership training. The goals of this training are to:

  • Learn more about how to work most effectively with partners
  • Become aware of one's own path to leadership
  • Discover new strategies for advocacy
  • Prepare a Community Service Project that impacts the community or system with the support of experienced family leaders

Digital Storytelling

Training for parents and caregivers of Iowa children and youth with special health care needs offered by the Iowa Family Leadership Training Institute. 


Digital Storytelling is a 3-day workshop designed to help families bring their story to life for advocacy and healing.


In-Person Sessions in Iowa City | November 11–13, 2026 

  • Wednesday, 1:00 PM – Friday, 3:00 PM


What to expect:

  • Teaches participants to create and produce a 2–4 minute digital story
  • Includes training in script writing, voice recording, and video editing
  • Training will be held in Iowa City
  • Lodging and meals provided
